The word Wonton–taken from the Chinese words for “small dumpling”–is a centuries old food. Marco Polo enjoyed these stuffed wraps on his travels to the Orient back in the 13th century. Pan-fried or steamed, wontons and pot stickers add texture and flavor to a wide range of dishes–from fresh ravioli to any brothy soup. Every Chinese New Year’s Day Robert Yee’s family gathered together to make pot stickers and hear him retell stories of his youth in China. And those delicious little wraps stuffed with meat and vegetables always tasted better to those who helped make them and keep the tradition alive.
